Double Barrel Tavern
About This Spot
Stepping into Double Barrel Tavern feels like finding a comfortable pause in the heart of Portland’s bustling Division Street. It’s the kind of bar where the pace is just unhurried enough to sink into the moment, surrounded by the warm, saloon-inspired vibe that hints at stories shared over good drinks and hearty plates. The space gently hums with a mix of friendly chatter and the clinking of glasses, offering a low-key refuge whether you’re winding down after a long day or meeting friends for easy conversation.
This spot strikes a balance between spirited neighborhood bar and familiar local hangout — never too flashy, never too sparse. There’s a welcoming kind of energy here, with a well-curated tap list and thoughtful cocktails that make it easy to savor something familiar or try a refreshing twist. The patio out back extends that feeling outdoors, creating a relaxed atmosphere that invites lingering, especially when the city’s summer light lingers late.
The food here feels like an extension of that vibe — unpretentious comfort with a touch of something unexpected. Whether it’s the crispy tang of sidewinder fries, the satisfying layers of a double-stacked burger, or the gentle kick hiding in a rich mac and cheese, the menu leans into classic bar favorites, elevated just enough to feel special without pretense. The wings and fried snacks bring a little zest to the table, perfect for sharing with a close group or savoring solo over a quiet drink.
Staff come across as genuine and capable, contributing to the spot’s approachable yet lively environment. While it can fill up in the evenings, the flow usually stays smooth enough to catch a seat at the bar without long waits, making this a reliable go-to for a casual night out. It’s the kind of place that welcomes you in with a knowing smile — offering a place to reset, reconnect, and enjoy the simple pleasures of good food, good drinks, and the human moments that make any visit memorable.

This place transports you back to the wild West. It’s got a saloon vibe with really great food and drinks. The burgers are the best around. I am always surprised that it is never too packed to have to wait for a table or a spot at the bar. Great spot!

Food is good, no complaint on the taste or portions. Wait staff behind the counter can be a little... snippy and/or belligerent. Lines to order can get long sometimes. They've never forgotten an item I've ordered but 50% of the time they've forgotten an item of someone I'm with. No dessert options.

Very awesome dive bar, excellent food and amazing, friendly staff. Their tap selection is very good and highly recommend the Yonder cider. Atmospheric patio in the back as well, 10/10 bar if you've had a rough Monday they can certainly turn it into a good one

I love going here for happy hour. They have a good happy hour. A good spirits selection plus beer. The wings are popular. The max and cheese had a little kick and I really enjoyed it. It's not quite a dive bar but not anything close to fancy.
